Substance Use and the Workplace –
Thursday, March 28th, 2019 – 8:30am to 10am.
We may all hold varying opinions about the personal use of drugs and alcohol, however the fact is that an individual’s mental and physical ability while under the influence may adversely affect their work performance and the safety of others. Companies who are committed to providing a safe work environment for all their workers, at all times and in all situations, are encouraged to attend this session.
This session will cover a number of elements related to substance use in the workplace including:
• A brief overview of substance use and characteristics of the modern workforce;
• A brief overview of the legislative frameworks that outline employer and employee responsibilities at work;
• Learning about the distinct difference between four types of users, when workplace accommodation may be required, and the critical steps to follow;
• What to do when you suspect that a worker’s performance or behaviour may be related to alcohol or drug use;
• A look at the critical steps involved in developing, implementing, and monitoring an effective workplace policy.
This Free Session will be facilitated by Detry Carragher – HR Management Consultant, CARVOGROUP.
Limited Seating.
